All Work and No Smurf - the Smurfs transformed.

"All Work And No Smurf" was an episode that appeared in Season 5 of the Smurfs cartoon show.

Summary

Papa Smurf begins the episode in his labratory, lamenting, "this simple formula for a magical mustache wax didn't turn out to be so simple!" He is interrupted by Sassette, who asks if Papa wants to play a game of Smurf the Tail on Azrael with her and the Smurflings. Papa declines because he is in the middle of an experiment, which causes the roof to explode! The Smurflings travel next to Smurfette to ask her to play, but she cannot because she has too much watering to do. Tailor Smurf declines to play as well, because he has been trying to measure Baby Smurf all day for a new suit - and it is proving difficult!

The Smurflings wish that the Smurfs could take a day off from work so they could play with them. Papa Smurf overhears them talking and agrees that taking a whole day off is a brilliant idea. Papa Smurf gathers the Smurfs and declares that the next day will be an official day off, "to smurf whatever you wish". Papa suggests that some of the Smurfs donate their day off to the Smurflings. Brainy decides to take charge of this playtime with the Smurflings - and he takes it very seriously and says it will be a lot of work!

The next day, on the special day off, the Smurflings encounter Papa with Baby, who seems to be happily taking up all of Papa's time and energy. So the Smurflings ask what the other Smurfs are up to: Papa responds that they're planning on devoting their day off to them. The Smurflings first visit Tailor - but instead of playing a fun game, Tailor says he is too busy, sewing the Smurflings new play clothes. The Smurflings are not amused. Next they visit Greedy - but he can't play either, he is too busy making the Smurflings fried rutabaga bread. Handy Smurf can't play handball - he's too busy building a new playhouse for the Smurflings. Snappy Smurfling says, "I wish they'd stop doing things for us, and start doing things with us!"

The Smurfs working for the Smurflings begin chanting "Let's work work work, let's go go go we'll show those kids we love them so!" Suddenly, the Smurfs start losing their tails. Next, Tailor Smurf turns into a pair of scissors! Farmer turns into a giant hoe! Baker turns into a whisk and Handy turns into a hammer!

Meanwhile, the Smurflings are quite bored playing a game of tag. They are surprised when they see a giant watering-can Smurfette run by. Papa, Baby, Vanity, Lazy and Brainy and the Smurflings seem unaffected and have not undergone the radical changes the other Smurfs have. Brainy directs Nat Smurfling to get out the "Ensmurflopedia of 100 Emergencies and How to Solve them Without Coming Unsmurfed". According to the book, the Smurfs suffer from an acute case of Workitosis. Sassette says, "it doesn't sound very cute to me!" Nat goes on to read, "Workitosis is more commonly known as Working Your Tail Off. Workitosis occurs when Smurfs do nothing but work on their day off and the only cure is to get their minds off work".

Brainy decides to tell the affected Smurfs to go to the beach - but they continue to work and stay in their transformed state. Making matters worse, Water Harpies capture the Smurflings in a net! Papa chastises Brainy for not playing with the Smurflings properly. Papa gets the altered Smurfs to continue working - to make a raft to save the Smurflings. The altered Smurfs begin to worry about the Smurflings well being, which Papa Smurf says will help them transform back into normal Smurfs. The Smurfs free the Smurflings, and in the process turn back into Smurfs. Back in the village, they finally get their tails back after promising to never work their tails off again!
