Azrael is one of the main characters of the Smurfs cartoon show, who has appeared on the show up until Season 8. He is Gargamel's cat who usually is helpful in ferreting out hiding Smurfs for his master, though at times he tends to get in the way of his master, resulting in Gargamel getting angry with his pet for his incompetence. In one of Vic George's Smurfs fanfiction stories related to his character Empath, Azrael ironically became the inspiration for both Sloppy's "caterwauling" guitar and the name of his rock band Azrael Rocks.

His character was voiced by Don Messick.
