Handy is one of the characters featured in Vic George's Smurfs fanfiction stories related to his character Empath. Though his personality is for the most part identical to that of his cartoon show universe counterpart, his rivalry with Hefty stems from the fact that he was born second as his twin brother and that they both individually share their father's traits: Hefty's love for bodybuilding and Handy's love for mechanics. Among his inventions, Handy has also created the smurfplane and the Imaginarium, and has rebuilt Clockwork Smurf to give him new abilities including full speech.
