Painter is one of the main characters of the Smurfs cartoon show, who has appeared on the show throughout its entire run. He is the village artist who usually does portraits in paint, though he occasionally works in sculpture. He speaks with a French accent, and is usually identified by a berry-red painter's jacket and a black artist's tie that he wears around his neck. He also tends to wear his hat with the top facing slightly to the side, and flattened out to resemble a French beret.
His character was voiced by Bill Callaway.
