Papa Smurf (cartoon)
- See this page for Vic George's interpretation of the same character.
Papa Smurf is one of the main characters of the Smurfs cartoon show, who has appeared on the show throughout its entire run. His role is that of the village leader and the father figure of 100 or so young Smurfs, using his wisdom and his knowledge of magic to protect them from various forms of dangers that exist in the Smurf forest. He is identified by his red Smurf hat and pants and by a shortly-trimmed white beard and moustache. His age of being 542 years old is mentioned in both the "non-canonical" Smurf presentation "The Smurfs And The Magic Flute" and in the cartoon show itself, in "All That Glitters Isn't Smurf", "The Good, The Bad, And The Smurfy", and "The Smurfs Springtime Special."
His character was voiced by Don Messick in the cartoon show, and will be voiced by Jonathan Winters in the upcoming The Smurfs movie.
