Smurf song
From Smurfology
The Smurf song is the general tune that a Smurf sings, as a sort of signature tune that identifies the singer as being a Smurf. It is usually sung when a Smurf is happy.
The Smurf song was developed by Hanna-Barbera for use in the Smurfs cartoon show, and is also used in other forms of Smurf media such as videogames. It curently appears in the 2011 Smurfs movie in various forms such as a remix using Aerosmith/Run D.M.C.'s "Walk This Way".
In Vic George's Smurfs fanfiction stories, its lead character Empath, who generally doesn't sing the Smurf song, used it in order to defeat Vladimir Smurfula's dreaded "smurphony of the night" which was entrancing Smurfette.
Lyrics
The Season 2 intro sequence features the following as the lyrics to the Smurf song:
- Smurfs: (sung in unison) La la la-la la la, Sing a happy song. La la la-la la la, Smurf your whole day long.
- Papa Smurf: ('La la la-la la la' part is whistled) Smurf along with me! ('La la la-la la la' part is whistled) Simple as can be.
- Smurfs: (sung in unison) Next time you're feeling blue just let a smile begin; Happy things will come to you...
- Smurfette: So smurf yourself a grin!
- (Ominous Gargamel-themed music used for the bridge)
- Gargamel: (spoken) Oooooo I hate Smurfs! (Azrael meows) I'll get you, I'll get all of you if it's the last thing I ever do! Hee hee hee hee ha ha ha ha!
- (Normal theme music resumes)
- Smurfs: (sung in unison) La la la-la la la, Now you know the tune,...
- (Harmony Smurf plays the "la la la-la la la" tune, just barely, on his off-key trumpet)
- Smurfs: (sung in unison, accentuated for the finale) You'll be Smurfing soon!
This version of the song can also be found as one of the danceable songs in the Nintendo Wii videogame The Smurfs Dance Party.
